Barnes & Thornburg Welcomes New Attorneys and Legal Professionals

Barnes & Thornburg has added intellectual property, labor and employment, real estate, corporate, and litigation attorneys and legal professionals to its Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New Jersey, New York, South Bend, Washington, D.C., and Wilmington offices.

Brian S.S. Auerbach, an of counsel in the Wilmington office, guides clients through complex patent, trademark, and copyright infringement lawsuits, as well as trade secret misappropriation actions at both the state and federal levels and technology-related commercial disputes. He earned his J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2013, his M.A. from Vanderbilt University in 2009, and his B.E. from Vanderbilt University in 2008.

An associate in the Los Angeles office, Lucy Bertino represents and advises employers on complex labor and employment matters. With prior in-house experience, she advises clients on compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements, federal and state employment laws, and wage and hour laws. Lucy earned her J.D. from University of North Carolina School of Law in 2018 and her B.A. from University at Buffalo, The State University of New York in 2014.

James Blodgett, a patent agent in the Indianapolis office, has more than 14 years of industry experience during which he engaged in Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated drug discovery research. He earned his M.B.A. from the University of Colorado School of Business in 1996, his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1986, his M.S. from Purdue University in 1982, and his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin in 1978.

A paralegal in the Dallas office, Anna Carrillo focuses on a variety of real estate matters. Attorneys and clients can rely on her to collaborate with external parties to complete transactions from initiation to closing, review title commitments and surveys and virtually all types of due diligence materials. Anna earned her paralegal certificate from Southern Methodist University in 2017 and a bachelor’s degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2016.

Quenia Herrera, a paralegal in the Columbus office, has more than 20 years of experience in a wide range of corporate, commercial and residential real estate, mergers and acquisitions, escrow, and title insurance underwriting and examination matters. She has experience supporting virtually all aspects of commercial transactions from pre-closing to post-closing. She earned her M.S. from Purdue University Global in 2012 and her B.S. from Purdue University Global in 2009.

A paralegal in the Atlanta office, Verlinda King is skilled in managing high-volume document production, monitoring deadlines and overseeing the logistical and timely administration of client matters. She is also adept at drafting, reviewing, and filing security instruments for an array of property types. Verlinda earned her M.A. from Agnes Scott College in 2020 and her B.A. from Agnes Scott College in 2013.

Tanja Mair, a business transaction advisor in the Chicago office, helps counsel European entities doing business in the United States in a variety of areas, including corporate, real estate, transactions, and agreements. Her real estate law experience aids her in supporting client in business transaction work. She earned her master diploma in law from the University of Innsbruck and graduated from the Higher Technical School of Construction and Design in Austria.

An associate in the New Jersey office, Briana Martinotti has experience in virtually all stages of litigation and aims to formulate optimal strategies for her clients. She is skilled in legal research and writing, frequently drafting summary judgment motions and discovery-related motions, discovery demands and responses, pleadings, and case status reports. Briana earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2021 and her B.A. from Loyola University Maryland in 2017.

Jessica Metzger, an associate in the New York office, concentrates her practice on complex commercial litigation and enforcement matters. She has experience in a range of substantive areas of the law, including contract disputes, bankruptcy litigation and civil regulatory investigations. She earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2019 and her B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 2014.

A paralegal in the Los Angeles office, Stephanie Ramirez has extensive experience analyzing case files to identify critical facts, evaluating client documents, interviewing fact witnesses, collecting and managing a large volume of records and data, and coordinating depositions. She has experience supervising support teams and delegating tasks to ensure efficient management of caseloads. Stephanie earned her J.D. from Whittier Law School and her B.A. from University of California, Irvine.

Kyle Smith, an associate in the South Bend office, takes cases from initiation of a complaint through appeal, and has experience working through discovery disputes, document review, depositions, filing and answering suits, arbitration and mediation, privilege disputes, preliminary injunctions, summary judgement briefings, and small claims. He earned his J.D. from Notre Dame School Law School in 2019 and his B.A. from Hillsdale College in 2012.

Of counsel in the Washington, D.C., office, Gretal Toker concentrates her practice on pharmaceutical and medical device, product liability, and mass tort litigation defense. She negotiates and implements individual and mass tort settlements for clients across the U.S. Gretal earned her J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. from Villanova University.
