Jim has more than 14 years of industry experience during which he engaged in Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-regulated drug discovery research and chemically manipulated and characterized polymers such as peptides, oligonucleotides, dextrans, polyacrylamides, and dendrimers. He wrote CMC/IND sections of FDA submissions, conducted organic syntheses according to current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations, and managed pilot manufacturing.
Detail-oriented and responsive, Jim has worked in law firms, including two other stints at Barnes & Thornburg, in-house in patent agent roles, and for a major research university. Jim has drafted and filed patent applications based on invention disclosures and inventor interviews, conducted patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and evaluations, interacted with foreign patent counsel on patent prosecution, and provided litigation support to in-house patent attorneys.
