Charity applies her unique skill set as former HR director and Title IX coordinator at Roosevelt University to guide clients through wage and hour claims, status classification and misclassification issues, discrimination claims, employee handbook creation, and developing and defending non-compete agreements.
She handles a wide variety of employee grievance complaints and defends employers faced with allegations of wrongful discharge, discrimination and harassment. Charity also drafts motions and briefs and assists with preparation for deposition, trial and arbitration.
As a labor and employment summer associate at Barnes & Thornburg, Charity assisted with internal investigations and their related reports. While in law school, she was an extern with the Honorable Patricia Spratt of the Circuit Court of Cook County and with the University of Illinois Chicago Office of University Counsel.
Charity worked in higher education for 14 years and attended law school part-time while working full-time. She understands the nuances of running an HR department and helps clients manage their challenges and goals.
