Barnes & Thornburg Adds IP Litigator Bruce Little in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS - Barnes & Thornburg LLP has added Bruce Little as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department, one of seven new attorneys to join the firm’s Minneapolis office in the early days of 2018.

Little is a trial lawyer with experience representing clients in disputes involving infringement, ownership, and licensing of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. He also has extensive experience in employment cases involving covenants not to compete and misappropriation of trade secrets.

As an outgrowth of his litigation practice, Little advises clients on the licensing and financing of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets; supervises due diligence review of U.S. and foreign IP assets as part of the acquisition or sale of companies, and negotiates and enforces employment and independent contractor agreements related to IP ownership and acquisitions.

“IP is a core strength of our firm and Bruce continues that outstanding tradition as one of top litigators and advisers in the Twin Cities,” said Connie Lahn, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Minneapolis office. “He’s served as lead trial counsel for many companies and individuals in varied industries ranging from software to financial services to entertainment. This deep and diverse experience will greatly benefit our clients looking to protect their most valuable intellectual assets.”

Little joins from Lindquist & Vennum and is reunited with four former colleagues who recently launched the firm’s Family Law group. Along with financial restructuring and banking attorneys Thomas Hoffman and Michael Cavallaro, Barnes & Thornburg has added seven new partners in Minneapolis this year, increasing the office’s attorney total to 32.

“These moves speak volumes of our culture and how we match work experience with the motivations and aspirations of our professionals,” added Lahn. “We’re very excited to bring them aboard.”

A native of Chicago, Little earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, cum laude, and his B.S. from the University of Illinois.

With more than 600 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from 13 offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Delaware, Indiana, Los Angeles, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio, and Washington, D.C.
