OVERVIEW

Tony Burba’s clients are healthcare providers, life sciences companies, and healthcare tech companies striving to extend, improve, and save lives. As a former federal healthcare fraud prosecutor, Tony guides his clients through the challenges of building, maintaining, and restoring compliance, as well as defending their operations against a variety of regulators and enforcement bodies.

Tony’s clients work for their patients and customers in a highly regulated, often shifting and ever-confusing environment of regulatory, legal, and reputational risks. Clients in pursuit of this mission benefit from Tony's comprehensive approach to legal problem-solving, including tools such as obtaining favorable advisory opinions, monitoring business initiatives, conducting due diligence, and managing self-disclosures to relevant agencies.

Drawing on his significant trial experience in criminal and civil cases, Tony employs a compliance-focused approach to defending against government investigations. He conducts thorough internal investigations and pairs defense strategies with improved compliance and remediation of related compliance risks. Tony’s clients often face enforcement by a variety of state and federal agencies. He partners with them to resolve complex disputes with those agencies, including under the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, and Stark law.

Tony has also been a leader in several large corporate monitorships, both at the Department of Justice and in private practice, allowing him to craft effective compliance programs and defense strategies tailored to each client's specific needs and aligned with the expectations of regulators. He also assists clients in building and improving compliance programs. He advises healthcare providers and suppliers on regulatory compliance, including the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark law issues.
