WILMINGTON, Del. – Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced today that it is boosting its national Intellectual Property group with the addition of partner Chad S.C. Stover, who has joined the firm’s Wilmington, Del. office. Previously, Stover was a partner at Novak Druce Connolly Bove & Quigg LLP.
Representing financial institutions, manufacturers, and technology developers, among other industry clients, Stover focuses his practice on patent litigation, trademark and copyright litigation, and unfair competition and trade secret litigation.
“Chad’s wealth of knowledge and experience will have immediate value for our clients involved in cases before the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, which is the top jurisdiction in the country for patent litigation,” said David Powlen, managing partner of Barnes & Thornburg’s Wilmington office. “We are excited to welcome an IP litigator of his caliber as we continue to expand our presence in the region.”
In joining Barnes & Thornburg, Stover is reunited with former Connolly Bove colleague Thomas McWilliams, who arrived in late 2012.

In addition, he has been appointed to the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners, and is active with the Federal Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
Stover earned his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2003, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the North Carolina Journal of Law and Technology. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Delaware in 2000.
