Jay advised and represented the interests of publicly held and privately owned service, resource and refining, and distribution businesses. He was also experienced in licensing and regulation of the gaming industry and served as in-house general counsel to an investment management company. His hands-on experience working in business supported him in understanding the challenges his clients faced on a day-to-day basis when running a company.
A fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and member of the IRS Commissioner’s Advisory Group, Jay’s tax practice spanned nearly every discipline of federal and transfer tax law – from planning and participating in the legislative process through lobbying and drafting activities, developing tax-sensitive business strategies, and representing taxpayers before administrative agencies and courts. Jay’s range of skills gave him a unique perspective on problem-solving and issues management for companies faced with serious tax concerns.
Jay was committed to truly listening to each client’s specific concerns and objectives. He was dedicated to collaboration and to designing actionable paths to realizing his client’s end game. Jay’s background and know-how in even the most sensitive areas of the law helped him translate each client’s objectives into tangible solutions that make practical business sense.
In addition to his legal work, Jay served as treasurer and adviser to state and federal campaigns, committees and officeholders.
