Jon Hyland and Thomas Haskins Join Barnes & Thornburg’s Dallas Office

DALLAS – Barnes & Thornburg LLP announced today that Jon B. Hyland and Thomas Haskins have joined the firm as partners in the Intellectual Property and Litigation departments, respectively. They are the most recent additions to Barnes & Thornburg’s Dallas office, joining prominent litigator Mark Bayer, who launched the office in early June.

Resident in the Dallas office are Bayer, who is the office managing partner; Hyland, who was a shareholder at Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr P.C.; and Haskins, who will be reunited with former Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP colleague Bayer.

“Jon and Thomas’ arrival shows that we are wasting no time in executing the aggressive recruiting strategy we put in place to build this into a full-service office,” said Bayer. “Texas is consistently one of the top venues for patent infringement lawsuits, among other complex litigation matters, which present a number of legal and business challenges to local, out-of-state and foreign companies. Jon and Thomas are talented trial attorneys who will help grow Barnes & Thornburg’s litigation team in the Southwest and nationally.”

To accommodate this growth and expected attorney hires in the coming months, Barnes & Thornburg is in negotiations for approximately 15,000 square feet of office space located at 2100 McKinney Avenue in the Uptown area of Dallas.

Bayer added: “We are aiming to have 20 to 25 attorneys in Dallas within 12 months and believe this new office space reflects our growing presence and overall goal of becoming a destination for the region’s premier legal talent.”
