Ann Grayson is a partner in the Litigation Department of Barnes & Thornburg's Indianapolis office, focusing her practice in international and domestic compliance, e-discovery and knowledge management. Ann leverages her strategic acumen to identify practical, cost-effective solutions to complex issues while minimizing and managing future risk and cost.

OVERVIEW

Ann Grayson is a partner in the Litigation Department of Barnes & Thornburg's Indianapolis office, focusing her practice in international and domestic compliance, e-discovery and knowledge management. Ann leverages her strategic acumen to identify practical, cost-effective solutions to complex issues while minimizing and managing future risk and cost.

Ann has nearly 30 years of experience rooted in defending multinational corporate clients in the product liability arena. She specifically focuses on the discovery, compliance and data challenges facing today's multinational corporations.

Ann counsels clients on data governance and compliance, including virtually all aspects of electronic discovery, records and information management, and data protection and privacy issues. She is skilled in sophisticated project management, where she designs and implements comprehensive, large-scale compliance and data management programs. 

Ann is an active member of the team assisting the Special Compliance Coordinator appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce to monitor, assess and report on the U.S. export control compliance of Zhongxing Telecommunications Equipment Corporation of Shenzhen, China, and ZTE Kangxun Telecommunications Ltd. of Hi-New Shenzhen, China (collectively, ZTE). 

In the context of e-discovery, Ann has experience advising companies of all sizes on the appropriate management of business information, assisting with vendor selection and management and facilitating collaboration among corporations' Legal, IT, Security, and Records Management departments. She has helped clients get a handle on big data through data mapping and the development of document retention and preservation policies; mobile device and social media guidance; data privacy and data security protocols; and defensible destruction programs.

Adaptable and perceptive, Ann navigates international legal systems and cultures with ease, skillfully facilitating communication across global jurisdictions to support multinational clients with employees around the world.

Ann is a member of The Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG-1) and the International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure Working Group (WG-6). She has achieved a Certification in Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is a Certified E-Discovery Specialist through the Association of E-Discovery Specialists. Additionally, Ann is a member of Court-Appointed Neutrals.
