Steve is experienced in advising and representing clients in the areas of patent prosecution, diligence, counseling, licensing, disputed matters, and complex patent infringement litigation in the mechanical and electrical arts. He has deep subject matter knowledge in consumer products, automotive components, medical devices, power tools, lawn and garden equipment, commercial restaurant equipment, food processing equipment, and construction, transportation and industrial equipment.
With substantial experience in virtually all phases of U.S. and international patent prosecution practice, including invention harvesting, application drafting, responding to office actions, appeals, and post-issuance proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and abroad, Steve is well-positioned to assist clients with portfolio development, patent enforcement, and product development strategy. He is also experienced at trademark portfolio maintenance and enforcement.
The understanding of various industries he has gained while representing clients over the past 15 years combined with his knack for simplifying complicated legal matters for stakeholders – from small engineering-focused companies without their own in-house legal resources to large, national and global entities – in a manner that resonates with them makes all the difference.
Beneficial to European clients, Steve speaks conversational German.
Steve frequently presents on patent and licensing topics to clients, the legal profession, and to industry insiders.
