Carla is dedicated to serving as an invaluable member of the firm’s litigation team, as well as to collaborating with related practices such as product liability and mass torts, labor and employment, compliance and monitorships, and receiverships. She is skilled in assisting with managing the many details involved in the litigation process, including pretrial practice, trial preparation and execution, and appeal work.
Her major responsibilities include helping to manage and organize massive multidistrict litigations, as well as complex litigation suits, e-discovery and document management, and trial and technology support. She also is involved with fact-gathering and analysis, record tracking and review, pleading and discovery drafting, legal research and cite checking, medical record analysis, deposition preparation, witness interviews and summarization, subpoena drafting and management, and post-trial support.
As a native Spanish speaker, Carla provides essential interpreting and translating services to the firm. This is particularly helpful when conducting foreign witness interviews, or reviewing and drafting documents of foreign clients and opposing parties and witnesses.
Prior to joining the firm, Carla served as a senior litigation paralegal with Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger, LLP, in Los Angeles. She assisted with trial preparation, along with e-discovery tasks such as providing support to attorneys and clients on document retention practice, formation and implementation of litigation holds, identification and preservation of evidence, data collection, and production procedures. Carla also provided extensive trial preparation support during her tenure at Greenberg Glusker.
In addition, Carla previously served as a litigation case manager at O'Melveny & Myers, LLP, in Los Angeles, where she provided assistance with development of litigation response plans, e-discovery, use of legal technology and discovery and trial support in a variety of drug and medical device cases as well as torts and product liability litigations.
