Barnes & Thornburg Appoints Thomas Haskins as Office Managing Partner in Dallas

DALLAS – Barnes & Thornburg announced today that leading commercial litigator Thomas Haskins has been named managing partner of the firm’s Dallas office and elected to the firmwide management committee.

“Thomas has long been a key contributor to the success and growth of our Dallas office thanks to his keen eye for strategy and practical approach to resolving our clients’ most challenging disputes,” said Andrew J. Detherage, firm managing partner. “Already a leader in our firm, Texas legal circles, and the broader Dallas community, Thomas is a natural fit to helm the office. I am confident he will excel in this new role as we continue to grow our presence in Dallas, which is key to our firmwide growth strategy.”

Barnes & Thornburg’s Dallas office has 75 attorneys and business professionals with practices in several strategic areas for the firm, including corporate, M&A, real estate, complex litigation, white collar criminal defense, insurance recovery, healthcare, life sciences, and intellectual property. The office has grown significantly since opening nearly ten years ago, most recently expanding its top-tier real estate practice, corporate M&A team and first-chair trial bench.

“The Dallas office works with some of the country’s most discerning and sophisticated clients—and because of the incredible quality of the Dallas lawyers, those same clients come back again and again,” Haskins said. “Every one of our lawyers is best-in-class, and I am excited to continue our momentum and increase our foothold in one of the country’s most thriving business communities.”

Joining the firm as a partner in 2015 on the heels of the Dallas office opening, Haskins is a highly regarded trial attorney specializing in complex disputes, including class actions, multidistrict litigation, partnership disputes, M&A litigation, and real estate matters. He routinely handles cases in state and federal courts across the U.S. and internationally. He also serves as the firm’s national chair of law student recruiting, spearheading the firm’s strategic partnerships with the country’s preeminent law schools.

In addition to his new role, Haskins will maintain an active practice. He serves as a litigation adviser and trial counsel to large public and private companies, high-net-worth individuals and financial institutions. He has scored several favorable verdicts in state and federal courts across the country, most recently arguing and winning a high-stakes appeal in the Michigan Court of Appeals and securing a significant victory in a contentious injunction hearing in Ohio federal court.

Haskins also has strong connections to the Dallas community. He is a member of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth’s board of directors and has served on the board of Bryan’s House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting at-risk children with special needs in North Texas.

With more than 800 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, South Florida, Texas and Washington, D.C.
