On a day-to-day basis, Tom assists clients in a wide variety of bond transactions for state and local governmental entities. He also advises on regulatory matters and assists clients with public finance and economic development activities.
Tom also maintains an active litigation practice, and currently serves as a member of the team assisting the special compliance coordinator appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce to monitor, assess and report on the U.S. export control compliance of Zhongxing Telecommunications Equipment Corporation, of Shenzhen, China, and ZTE Kangxun Telecommunications Ltd. of Hi-New Shenzhen, China (collectively, ZTE).
He served as a summer associate and law clerk with the firm, as a legal extern with NiSource, Inc., and as a research assistant to two Notre Dame law professors before joining Barnes & Thornburg full-time.
Before attending law school, Tom taught middle school math with Teach for America in Detroit.
