Gunnar has experience assessing client records for documentation, coding, and supervision compliance in private payor disputes and CMS audit preparation. In addition to assisting with internal and external compliance evaluations under both state and federal healthcare laws and regulations, he has also helped providers navigate the administrative claims, exclusion, and suspension appeals processes.
He is also skilled at drafting compliance plans for a wide variety of providers and laboratories.
Notably, Gunnar has distinguished himself as a Certified Medical Compliance Officer (CMCO), and is also a Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
A frequent speaker, Gunnar has presented to medical organizations on topics including OIG compliance, DOJ enforcement updates, and Medicare telehealth and telecommunications technology.
As a student at William & Mary Law School, Gunnar participated in the Lewis B. Puller, Jr. Veterans Benefits Clinic where he represented veterans in coverage disputes with the Veterans Affairs department. Gunnar was also selected to be a Student Admissions Ambassador, and he held various positions in other student organizations.
