Two Barnes & Thornburg attorneys have been selected to participate in Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) landmark programs designed for the next generation of law firm leaders.
Angela B. Freeman, a partner in the firm’s Indianapolis office, is a representative for the 2021 class of LCLD Fellows. Aisha R. Hasan, an associate in the firm’s Raleigh and Washington, D.C., offices, is a member of the class of LCLD Pathfinders.

Freeman uses her 15 years of experience as a biologist to counsel clients on protecting their intellectual property, particularly in the agricultural, pharmaceutical and fuel cell industries. A member of the firm’s Intellectual Property department and Life Sciences practice group, Freeman also assists clients with mergers and acquisitions and procuring trademark and copyright registrations to protect their IP rights.
Freeman is also deeply involved in the community, is a recognized global champion for diversity in STEM and law, and currently serves as past-president of Women & Hi Tech.
Like Freeman, Hasan is a member of the firm’s IP and Life Sciences groups. With an advanced degree in biochemistry and molecular biology, Aisha works in a wide range of technical areas, including immunotherapies, biotechnology, small molecule pharmaceuticals, agricultural biotechnology, and diagnostic assays. She counsels large multinational corporations, as well as a variety of startups and emerging companies. Her practice includes worldwide patent procurement, commercial clearance investigations, and diligence. Aisha also provides transactional counseling, including on issues related to intellectual property licensing.
LCLD is a national program that identifies and trains the next generation of diverse leaders. The Fellows program is a year-long, structured training program designed to build relationships and leadership skills that involves peer-group projects and in-person training. The Pathfinders program gives early-career professionals the opportunity to learn about leadership, career development and how to build professional networks.
