Dorothy’s research skills pair well with her knowledge of the technical arts. She also has a solid grasp of e-commerce, data security and privacy and tax issues as they pertain to copyrighted and trademarked works, particularly within the digital music arena.
Before turning to private practice, Dorothy spent a year with the U.S. Copyright Office in Washington, D.C., as a copyright registration specialist. In that role, she examined and analyzed copyright applications and deposits for original works of authorship and provided informational updates regarding copyright claims and principles for federal registration purposes.
Dorothy gained experience during law school as a research assistant, focusing on e-commerce statutes, regulations, policies, and case law pertaining to copyright works; as a judicial extern to the Honorable John M.T. Chavis II of the Marion Superior Court; and as a law clerk with an Indianapolis firm and a firm in Vienna, Virginia.
