Tan has a deep understanding of bigger picture issues for his clients – how their endeavors impact their businesses, their employees and their customers. In serving as a business adviser and general counsel to his clients, Tan represents buyers, sellers, sponsors and investors in targeted sales, acquisitions, joint ventures, and private equity fund investments.
Tan also advises on asset and stock purchases, mergers, recapitalizations, leveraged buy-outs and securities issues in real estate, commercial projects and related opportunities; counsels officers and directors on issues of governance, strategic, finance and employment matters; advises on debt and equity offerings; and guides entrepreneurs through the private placement process.
Additionally, Tan has extensive experience preparing and negotiating partnership, limited liability, equity and buy-sell agreements for closely held businesses, as well as distribution and supply, employment, consulting, incentive compensation, licensing and confidentiality agreements.
Early in his career, Tan spent several years developing his cross-border transaction skills, working on various foreign deals with an international firm in its Bucharest, Chicago and London offices.
Tan is a go-to attorney because of his ability to identify a range of issues a client might be encountering, whether in M&A or other arenas. If one of those issues isn’t in his area of focus, he will help point clients in the direction of colleagues to assist, so that a solution can be found.
Tan was born in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), Vietnam, and raised in Milwaukee. Proud of his Wisconsin roots, Tan remains a fan and defender of the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. In his spare time, Tan enjoys reading, cooking and trail running.
