He concentrates his practice on the advanced planning needs of business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals. Doug combines the disciplines of business and corporate law, estate planning, asset protection and income tax planning to provide comprehensive solutions to business structuring, succession planning and exit strategies. He serves as counsel to businesses, families, trusts and estates. He represents clients in several states and has assisted many global families with cross-border issues.
Doug counsels numerous family offices regarding issues of wealth transition and family governance. He advises charitable foundations and not-for-profit entities and incorporates various gifting techniques to maximize the impact of charitable planning. Doug also utilizes compliant domestic and foreign trust planning to achieve proper asset protection. In addition to planning, Doug oversees the probate and administration of estates and trusts.
Doug received his B.A. in political science from Indiana University and his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law.
Doug frequently speaks on wealth succession and preservation including the advanced planning techniques of family limited liability companies (FLLCs) and asset protection trusts.
Doug is admitted to practice in the states of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan, and before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Tax Court.
