INDIANAPOLIS – Diversity Lab has recognized Barnes & Thornburg as among the law firms that have achieved Mansfield Rule 5.0 certification based on the firm’s demonstrated commitment to diversity in its leadership roles in 2021-2022.
Earning the Mansfield Rule 5.0 means the firm has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The firm participated in Diversity Lab’s 12-month Mansfield Rule 5.0 certification process, which requires law firms to consider 30 percent women, lawyers of color, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities for firm leadership opportunities. This includes governance roles, equity partner promotions, formal client pitch opportunities, and senior lateral positions.
“We are extremely pleased to be recognized with this latest achievement from Diversity Lab’s program,” Firm Diversity Partner Dawn Rosemond said. “Barnes & Thornburg already had processes in place to diversify candidate pools, but signing onto Mansfield 5.0 – and pursuing Mansfield 6.0 – is strengthening these processes even further. This is truly a top-down commitment to change.”
Barnes & Thornburg is continuing in this initiative by participating in the Mansfield Rule 6.0 certification process. It is part of the firm’s diversity, equity and inclusion commitment, which rests on three pillars – sponsorship of talent, integration of the business of the firm with the business of DEI, and cultivation of an inclusive culture.
