Three Barnes & Thornburg Lawyers Named Indiana Lawyer Leaders in Law

INDIANAPOLISThe Indiana Lawyer has honored three Barnes & Thornburg LLP attorneys with its 2017 Leadership in Law award. The statewide legal publication named D. William Moreau, Jr., as a “Distinguished Barrister” and Brian R. Weir-Harden and Caitlin Byczko as “Up and Coming Lawyers.”

Moreau, a partner in the firm’s Indianapolis and Washington, D.C., offices, was one of 15 lawyers to be named a Distinguished Barrister. Recipients of the honor are those lawyers who have dedicated their lives to the legal profession and to their communities.

Moreau is known for his representation of higher education and government relations clients throughout the country. He also serves as chair of the firm’s Higher Education Practice Group. Outside of his legal work, Moreau is deeply involved in several community issues, including ending homelessness and for his role in establishing a legal assistance program for homeless veterans.

The Indiana Lawyer also named 15 “Up and Coming Lawyers,” including Harden and Byczko, who also work in the firm’s Indianapolis office. The committee chose lawyers in the profession who have “hit the ground running” and those who are making an impact already in their early years.

Weir-Harden is a partner and member of the White Collar and Investigations Practice Group, Antitrust Practice Group, and the Compliance Practice Group. He also has been active internally at the firm and is a member of the recruiting committee.

Byczko, an intellectual property associate, counsels clients on a range of issues, including trademark and copyright enforcement, litigation, unfair competition and domain disputes. She is a member of the Intellectual Property Department, Internet and Technology Law and Media and Sports Practice Groups.

The Indiana Lawyer established the Leadership in Law awards in 2006 as a way to honor outstanding lawyers who have shown a commitment to their peers, clients and the Indiana legal community.

With more than 600 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from 13 offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Delaware, Indiana, Los Angeles, Michigan, Minneapolis, Ohio and Washington, D.C.
