Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights & Responsibilities

M. Mercedes Badia-Tavas of the Chicago office was featured in a segment entitled "¿Cuál es la diferencia entre un abogado y un notario?" ("What is the difference between a lawyer and a notary?") aired by Univision on June 15. This segment is part of a "Know Your Legal Rights" public service program for the Latino community developed by the American Bar Association, Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights & Responsibilities. During the segment, Mercedes explained the difference between a lawyer and a notary, the importance of using a lawyer or a DOJ-accredited representative for immigration matters, and the importance of a victim to report the fraud of a notary as a crime to the authorities.
