Intellectual Property Attorney Steven Shipe Joins Barnes & Thornburg

INDIANAPOLIS – Barnes & Thornburg announced that Steven D. Shipe has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Department as of counsel in the Indianapolis and Washington, D.C., offices.

Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Shipe was a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Shipe’s patent examiner experience includes internal combustion engine controls and thermodynamic power plants. He also served as a law clerk to a lead administrative law judge in conducting inter partes review trials before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

After earning his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland, Shipe earned his law degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Casey School of Law.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Shipe worked as a technology specialist engineer with Bechtel Power Corporation.
