Pathway to Promotion - Negotiating and Navigating Your Path to Success

Marlén Cortez Morris presented on a virtual panel, “Pathway to Promotion – Negotiating and Navigating Your Path to Success,” hosted by the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois’ Latina Committee and the Hispanic National Bar Association’s (HNBA) Latina Commission. The panel of Latina partners and corporate counsel discussed topics such as determining your market value, navigating a lateral transition, and overcoming challenges in negotiating a promotion. According to recent HNBA studies, Latinas make up less than 2 percent of U.S. lawyers, and Latinx attorneys as a whole comprise less than 5 percent of U.S. lawyers. The panel is part of HNBA/HLAI’s efforts to help increase Latinx representation in the legal field.
