Data Security Risks Policyholders Face

John Fischer of the Indianapolis office presented on cyber risk insurance coverage from the policyholder perspective at the inaugural Insurance Law Institute at the National LGBT Law Association Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 6. Attendees included both policyholder-side and insurer-side coverage counsel and insurance defense counsel. John gave an overview of the types of data security risks policyholders face; the types of cyber risk insurance available to cover those risks (and the limitations and exclusions typical to that insurance); and the potential availability of coverage for cyber risks under other policies typically in a policyholder's portfolio (general liability, property, crime, and E&O/D&O).
