He has represented financial institutions, registered broker-dealers, investment funds and high-net worth individuals in a broad array of commercial disputes. Thomas’s clients value the breadth and depth of his advocacy experience and business know-how, and Thomas handles his clients’ most complex matters, including class actions, multidistrict litigations, complex securities and investment disputes, mergers and acquisition litigation, antitrust disputes, and intellectual property matters. Thomas has handled matters in state and federal courts across the United States, as well as internationally, and has appeared in domestic and international arbitrations before the AAA, ICDR, JAMS and FINRA.
As a trial litigator with experience in domestic and international litigation and alternative dispute resolution, Thomas advises on securities matters, antitrust disputes, mergers and acquisitions litigation, labor disputes, and intellectual property matters, and has successfully handled commercial matters and white collar criminal defense covering a wide array of industries, including nuclear technology, complex securities transactions, data ownership and software licensing, complex purchase accounting and partnership disputes, among others.
Thomas started his career with a foremost international law firm advising on compliance with the Office of Foreign Assets Control programs and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. As a result, he is well-situated to handle large, complex litigations and investigations, and has resolved such matters for several of the world’s largest corporations and financial institutions.
Whether in litigation or serving in a holistic advisory role for companies, Thomas takes the time to understand what each client actually needs, and how the matter at hand or dispute fits into the client’s overall business strategy. He presents his clients with viable paths to realizing the right result, including potential outcomes and cost.
Thomas also dedicates significant time and resources to his community, in philanthropic and business-focused capacities. He has served on the Board of Directors for Bryan’s House, an organization dedicated to providing underserved children with specialized medical, educational and therapeutic care, as well as holistic support services for their families. He also advises entrepreneurs and early stage companies on the basics of business, leading several sessions at the South by Southwest Interactive Conference in Austin, Texas, and the V2V Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.
