Kyle has a wide range of experience allowing him to counsel clients in virtually all of their intellectual property needs. He prepares patent applications in the United States and foreign jurisdictions covering a variety of technologies, including mechanical and electromechanical systems in the aircraft, automotive and consumer product industries.
Kyle has guided clients through plaintiff and defendant side litigation in U.S. District Courts, and in conducting patent validity challenges before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Clients can also come to Kyle for evaluating and clearing new products against competitor patents, and when transferring or licensing their IP.
While earning his undergraduate degree at Purdue University, Kyle was a project leader of Engineering Projects in Community Service, a group that designs and creates devices to assist members of the local community. In his final year of law school, Kyle was a law clerk in the firm's Indianapolis office, where he assisted in preparing and prosecuting patent applications in the United States and foreign jurisdictions
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Kyle gained experience as a technical adviser at a patent firm in Houston, Texas. He was also a judicial intern for the Honorable Theodore M. Sosin in Marion Superior Court in Indianapolis.
