Monica J. Stover is a staff attorney in the Grand Rapids office of Barnes & Thornburg and is a member of the Intellectual Property Department and the Advertising & Marketing Law Practice Group. Monica focuses her practice on trademark, copyright, trade dress, advertising, trade secret, and unfair competition issues. In addition, she has experience assisting in litigation involving intellectual property issues.
Monica gained experience as part of a team who successfully defended a Barnes & Thornburg client against claims of patent infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, and fraud, some of which were resolved in the client's favor on summary judgment and the rest successfully tried to a defense verdict after a six-day jury trial in federal court.
Before joining Barnes & Thornburg as a staff attorney, Monica began as a law clerk for the firm. She also gained experience as a law clerk working in-house for four years in the Legal Services Group at Bissell Homecare, Inc., where she assisted the general counsel on transactional, policy, and litigation matters and assisted the Intellectual Property Group in the maintenance of the company's intellectual property portfolio and related patent, trademark, advertising, Internet and domain name matters. Monica also worked for a solo practitioner while an undergraduate student.
