With a Ph.D. in physics and undergraduate degree in computer engineering, Kevin McCusker focuses his practice on intellectual property law, including patent prosecution and litigation in areas such as computer networking, software and quantum information.
Kevin advises clients on a range of patent-related issues, including patent prosecution and patent litigation.
Kevin applies his knowledge of electrical engineering and physics-related technology to IP matters in in areas including computer networking, computer security, autonomous driving, optical measurements and quantum computing.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Kevin worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Northwestern University. His graduate and postdoctoral research focused on quantum information and quantum optics, in both fiber and free space, with applications to quantum cryptography and computing. His work has been published in Physical Review Letters and Journal of Modern Optics.
