ELKHART – Barnes & Thornburg announced today that it settled into a new location at 240 East Jackson Boulevard in downtown Elkhart, effective Nov. 17. The firm has had roots in Elkhart for over 58 years and is committed to playing an active role in the city’s growth and future development. The Barnes & Thornburg office returns downtown from 52700 Independence Court, where it has been since 2016.
“We are thrilled to be moving to the center of the action in Elkhart,” said Timothy A. Emerick, managing partner of the firm’s South Bend and Elkhart offices. “This move is the latest evidence of our commitment to the Elkhart region and will further enable our attorneys and business professionals to remain fully vested in the community. We look forward to continuing to provide clients throughout north central Indiana with exceptional service.”
The firm’s connection with Elkhart dates back to 1965, when the Elkhart-based company Cawley & Harman joined forces with the South Bend-based firm Oare, Thornburg, McGill & Deahl, resulting in the formation of Thornburg, McGill, Deahl, Harman, Carey & Murray. This entity underwent another significant merger in 1982, uniting with the Indianapolis-based firm Barnes, Hickam, Pantzer & Boyd, ultimately becoming Barnes & Thornburg.
At the center of Elkhart’s downtown bustle, 240 East Jackson is home to other staple service providers, including Patrick Industries, Lake City Bank, RSM, and the Elkhart Community Foundation.
The architecture firm responsible for designing the office was Cripe Design LLC, and the contractor was DJ Construction.
With more than 800 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, South Florida, Texas, and Washington, D.C.
