Join Barnes & Thornburg Partner Peter Wright as he moderates a panel during the American Bar Association’s Superfund Master Class on May 16, 2022 at 10 a.m. (central) titled “The CERCLA Rollercoaster: Emerging Contaminants and Different Perspectives on “Clean” and “Done” are Unsettling Superfund Sites. Wright and his colleagues will address the changing expectations of Superfund sites, including the implications of designating PFAS chemicals as CERCLA hazardous substances, possibly changing cleanup levels for 1, 4 dioxane and lead, and a heightened focus on environmental justice. 

The ABA’s Superfund Master Class is a one-day advanced-level program will explore important considerations for Superfund practitioners. Leaders from the private, nonprofit, and governmental sectors will converge for a thought-provoking exchange of policy, regulatory, and legal issues which continually fascinate and confound lawyers. Experienced panelists will cover topics including: 

  • Superfund site re-openers;
  • Remedy revision to manage changing site conditions as well as new hazardous substances, pollutants, and contaminants;
  • Superfund work on nontraditional sites including those led by other governmental agencies or on tribal lands;
  • Issues unique to mining sites, Brownfield redevelopment, and liability transfer.
