Stephan handles litigation across all stages, from pre-suit strategy through post-trial proceedings, with experience drafting pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs. His work spans a range of commercial and intellectual property matters, reflecting the breadth of disputes that arise in complex litigation practice.

Before joining the firm, Stephan served as a judicial law clerk to Justice Patrick F. Fischer of the Supreme Court of Ohio; an experience that exposed him to numerous areas of law, including original actions for extraordinary writs. This sharpened his instincts for appellate advocacy and judicial reasoning. Working at the court of last resort for Ohio gave him a practitioner’s understanding of how courts evaluate arguments, assess records, and reach decisions.

Stephan began practicing law at a Columbus-based national firm. While there, he litigated claims against unauthorized online sellers for trademark infringement, unfair competition, and related claims in multiple federal jurisdictions. This experience gave him insight into how the mechanics of litigation could be creatively leveraged to achieve his clients’ objectives.

Prior to law school, Stephan served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Madagascar, an experience that reflects a longstanding commitment to service.
