Mariana heads the firm’s Immigration and Global Mobility Services practice group. She assists multinational corporations with the transfer and hiring of foreign nationals for their operations in the United States on a temporary or permanent basis. She advises in-house counsel and human resources administrators who need guidance on immigration matters related to the employment of foreign nationals in the U.S. Mariana also counsels individual clients, such as professionals, athletes, scientists and university faculty and research staff, on the full range of immigration-related matters.
Mariana has served as director of legal support and special counsel by appointment of the attorney general for the Indiana Department of Workforce’s Alien Labor Certification Unit and liaison to the Alien Labor Certification Unit of the U.S. Department of Labor in Chicago. She has experience in alien labor certification and virtually all employment-based immigration matters, as well as family-based immigration.
Because immigration initiatives can be infused with emotion and stress, Mariana takes the time to get to know her clients personally. She focuses on explaining the immigration process in a way that can be understood through an array of cultural lenses and varying perspectives. In addition, she strives to provide tremendous consideration and compassion for the pressures her clients face when immigrating to the U.S., particularly when a delay or obstacle to progress occurs.
Mariana is a frequent speaker at employment-based immigration seminars at the regional and national levels.
