With a background rooted in Delaware state government, Doug served as chief of staff to then-Gov. John Carney, overseeing policy and legislative initiatives while managing a team of 16 cabinet members and 35 staff. His tenure included negotiating with the General Assembly and fostering relationships with trade organizations and stakeholder groups.
Beyond government service, Doug has more than 30 years of experience as a political organizer within the Democratic Party. He led numerous successful campaigns, including serving pivotal roles in Gov. Carney's campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, Delaware lieutenant governor, and successful 2016 and 2020 gubernatorial bids. Most recently, he helped build and execute the Governor’s successful campaign to become mayor of Wilmington.
Doug helps provide tailored solutions to challenges faced by regulated entities and those wanting to do business in Delaware, at the intersection of government relations, public policy and advocacy.
Doug's strategic acumen was further honed through his involvement in presidential and congressional campaigns, solidifying his reputation as a trusted adviser and campaign strategist.
Doug's career also includes a stint as political editor at The News Journal in Wilmington, where he managed reporters and directed comprehensive political coverage for major events such as the 2000 Republican National Convention. Later, as executive director of Education Voters of Delaware, Doug advocated for reforms to enhance the state's public education system, showcasing his commitment to civic engagement beyond electoral politics.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Doug is an avid sports enthusiast, passionately following Philadelphia teams and Tottenham Hotspur. He enjoys staying active through running, hiking, biking, and indulging in his love for music, particularly Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
