Chairing the firm’s Litigation section in Dallas, Tim Hudson is a trial lawyer who provides tailored counsel and representation for clients in matters involving product liability and mass torts in multidistrict litigation (MDL), as well as commercial litigation and trade secrets. Tim currently serves as national coordinating counsel and trial counsel for one of the nation’s largest medical device manufacturers.

OVERVIEW

Chairing the firm’s Litigation section in Dallas, Tim Hudson is a trial lawyer who provides tailored counsel and representation for clients in matters involving product liability and mass torts in multidistrict litigation (MDL), as well as commercial litigation and trade secrets. Tim currently serves as national coordinating counsel and trial counsel for one of the nation’s largest medical device manufacturers.

With nearly 20 years of experience, Tim has significant experience defending major pharmaceutical, medical device, and life sciences companies in product liability actions. He has successfully tried cases to verdict in multiple states across the country, advises various business and manufacturers, and regularly represents clients in complex litigation involving product liability, business torts, and trade secrets. Tim also assists clients in relation to FDA labeling, compliance, and regulatory issues.

Tim is well-regarded by his clients, due to his honed and sought-after skills in defending, preparing, and trying cases, including taking plaintiff and expert depositions, and arguing discovery, dispositive and other pretrial motions.

In addition to counseling some of the nation’s largest medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers on product liability claims, Tim regularly consults with businesses regarding the identification and protection of company trade secrets, and other confidential and proprietary assets. His trade secret experience involves representing clients in numerous industries in temporary restraining order (TRO) and temporary injunction proceedings. He also guides those facing issues relating to misappropriation of trade secrets, and represents clients in related bet-the-company litigation and disputes involving business ventures and departing employees. Tim is also a frequent speaker and author on matters relating to trade secret law in Texas.

A leader in Dallas’ legal community, Tim currently serves as chair of the State Bar of Texas’ Trade Secret Committee. Additionally, he has been recognized by numerous publications for his outstanding legal work, including D Magazine's "Best Lawyers in Dallas" and Texas Super Lawyers.

  • Secured defense verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in Missouri state court, where the case settled following appeal
  • Secured defense verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in a U.S. District Court in Florida
  • Secured defense verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in a U.S. District Court in Arkansas
  • Served as co-trial counsel for medical device manufacturer in a Florida state court trial, securing favorable settlement before closing arguments
  • Secured favorable verdict in product liability trial for medical device manufacturer in Texas state court

  • Successfully argued and secured multiple temporary restraining order and injunctions focused on the theft, or allegation of theft, of company trade secrets
  • Represented multiple companies in the mortgage origination and servicing industry relating to claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and violations of non-disclosure agreements 
  • Represented an environmental consulting company regarding enforcement of confidentiality agreements and related departing employee claims
  • Represented an oil and gas exploration company in trade secrets lawsuit relating to methods and formulas for identifying profitable acreage
  • Represented a thermal processing company in claims for trade secret theft against a former employee
  • Represented a medical device manufacturer in federal court lawsuit involving claims of theft of trade secrets
  • Defended a national jewelry retailer in state court litigation involving claims for misappropriation of trade secrets
  • Defended a nutritional supplement company in Florida state court litigation involving claims of misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of contract
  • Defended a national gas manufacturer in state court litigation involving claims for injunctive relief, misappropriation of trade secrets, violations of Texas Theft Liability Act, and breach of contract
  • Defeated efforts by an opposing party in a trade secret and non-competition case to enjoin client from competing
  • Obtained temporary restraining order on behalf of a national transportation company causing competitor to cease contacts with certain customers

  • Represented a global security and aerospace company in a case involving claims of fraud and violations of federal regulations
  • Secured dismissal of pharmacy benefit manager in federal court involving claims of defamation, business torts, and claim for attorney’s fees
  • Represented an affordable housing developer in state court litigation involving claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and theft of trade secrets
  • Secured dismissal of lawsuit in federal court on behalf of healthcare company relating to allegations of fraud, deceptive practices, and emotional distress
  • Secured dismissal of hospital in lawsuit alleging claims of defamation and tortious interference with contract
  • Secured favorable settlement for legal research provider in case involving claims of breach of contract and fraud
  • Secured dismissal of all claims against private educational system in Illinois state court against claims approaching $10 million
