Anna Kalinina effectively handles a wide variety of complex commercial cases in state and federal courts throughout Texas and across the country.

Anna skillfully litigates complex commercial cases for clients across multiple industries and is valued for her effective written and oral advocacy. 

Anna has a results-driven commercial litigation practice in which she has successfully represented clients in cases involving commercial contract disputes, business torts, high-stakes sports-related personal injury, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation of trade secrets, products liability, and oil and gas matters. Skilled in and out of the courtroom, Anna excels at state and federal motion practice and has obtained early dismissal of claims through effective advocacy and skillful leveraging and negotiation on behalf of her clients.

Anna also has a passion for appellate work and is skilled in preparing concise and effective appellate briefs and motions.

Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Anna gained significant experience and litigation skills with Holland & Knight (formerly Thompson & Knight).

During law school, Anna held several prestigious summer associate positions at well-respected law firms in Houston and Dallas. She was also a legal intern for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, and the Institute for Justice, a non-profit public interest law firm based in Austin. While earning her undergraduate degree, Anna interned for then-U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri and the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C.

Anna loves rescue dogs and has volunteered with or otherwise contributed to the initiatives of the SPCA of North Texas, Operation Kindness, and Cane Rosso Rescue.

Experience
  • Prevailed in the Michigan Court of Appeals by securing reversal of the probate court’s erroneous interpretation of a high-value trust in multi-million trust litigation.
  • Secured complete dismissal of contentious, high-profile civil rights class action in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana by preparing the winning summary judgment motion and opposition to class certification on behalf of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in latent sports injury case in Dallas County Court at Law No. 5.
  • Successfully negotiated early dismissal of claims against company and principal in case involving various allegations of fraud and violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
  • Independently secured dismissal of breach of contract claims against pet food manufacturer in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California by preparing and arguing winning motion to dismiss.
  • Assisted in securing dismissal of federal consumer class actions involving allegations of fraud, breach of contract, unjust enrichment, breach of implied warranty, and civil RICO violations on behalf of major national energy reseller.
