Having practiced information technology law exclusively for two decades, Robert Weiss provides practical and strategic legal and business advice on a variety of complex technology and data transactions, internet- and electronic commerce-related matters, and infrastructure procurements. Clients appreciate his talent for managing the distinctive dynamics of relationships among companies during and after such technology deal negotiations.

Supporting his clients’ operations worldwide, Rob works with assorted businesses who have sophisticated technology needs spanning a broad spectrum of industries, including financial services, healthcare, retail, hospitality, private equity firms, transportation and logistics, and credit card processing.

Rob regularly helps clients take advantage of the numerous benefits of operating in the cloud and manage the associated risks. He is valued by clients for his dedication to helping them navigate the constantly evolving challenges of data privacy best practices and compliance.

He provides counsel on, drafts and negotiates cloud and machine learning agreements; technology development and data licensing projects, data center and co-location agreements; and telecommunications procurements. He also advises on systems integrations infrastructure and business process sourcings, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

Rob is a recognized leader in the community of technology law practitioners, having been deeply connected with International Technology Law Association (ITechLaw); he is immediate past president of the board.

Valued for his knowledge in the area, Rob regularly speaks and writes on subjects associated with information technology, including a recent appearance on the China Global Television Network (CGTN) in a segment about the telecom industry. He has also published articles and been quoted in a variety of newspapers, journals and other media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, CNN Money, Consumer Reports, CFOMagazine, Computerworld, Real Simple, the Journal of Internet Law, the University of Virginia Journal of Law and Technology, and the Health Information Privacy/Security Alert.
