Kiara relies on her legal research skills to assist intellectual property clients with their trademark, copyright, and advertising concerns. Kiara’s experience includes prosecution and clearance (namely, advising on trademark filing strategies, drafting substantive office action responses, and managing foreign trademarks), trademark and copyright enforcement to protect against infringement in the marketplace, and aiding clients with advertising and marketing compliance to protect their brands from advertising claims.
Before joining Barnes & Thornburg full-time, Kiara was a summer associate with the firm. She researched case law, drafted memoranda, and crafted legal arguments for intellectual property and litigation matters. Kiara also worked with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Office of Legal Affairs as a trademark law clerk. She filed trademark applications, drafted goods and services descriptions, and corresponded with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) counsel.
Prior to attending law school, Kiara was a senior paralegal for a product liability group in Boston, Massachusetts, and a family law paralegal in her hometown of Buffalo, New York.
