Harte Brick focuses her practice in healthcare, as she has had a longtime dedication to and passion for understanding the healthcare system. Having worked for hospitals and healthcare consulting firms before entering the legal field, Harte brings a unique perspective to clients. She is a trusted adviser providing counsel on a range of regulatory and transactional matters to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
Harte understands the need for healthcare entities, including hospitals, physician groups and other healthcare systems, to keep in compliance with various state and federal laws, regulations and programs. She assists provider clients by filing applications and drafting bylaws and policies conforming to hospital accreditation guidance and legal standards, as well as by performing related accreditation research and audits.
During her time as a summer associate with Barnes & Thornburg, Harte completed COVID-19 state disease reporting rubrics for a large pharmaceutical chain, and she also delivered numerous Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and Medicare change of ownership applications for a large hospice group.
Harte gained experience as a law clerk with the Office of Legal Affairs for Rush University Medical Center, a law clerk and research analyst with Advis Group, an administrative intern with Carle Foundation Hospital, and as a patient access representative in the Emergency Department of St. Joseph Medical Center, all located in Illinois.
While earning her undergraduate degree, Harte participated in The Claro Group Case Competition as a team lead in a hospital turnaround case study. She and her team identified potential revenue enhancement and cost reduction strategies to improve hospital operating results, which would prioritize emergency room and charge capture, patient throughput, supply expense and physician professional fee billing to develop strategies to sustain and bolster hospital operations.
She also spent time in a study abroad program in Rome, Italy, learning about the Italian healthcare system.
