Duncan guides clients through environmental matters from early compliance counseling through trial or arbitration. He works to bring clients into compliance while also preparing them for potential enforcement actions.

Duncan counsels clients across a range of industries, including manufacturing, building materials, packaging, defense and construction, as well as owners and operators of property on Superfund sites. Duncan handles a growing volume of environmental matters related to data center development.

Drawing on his environmental background, Duncan also litigates product liability and mass tort matters, including cases involving consumer products and pharmaceuticals.

Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, Duncan was an associate with a California-based environmental litigation boutique firm. His work in environmental law began in law school, where he worked with environmental nonprofits and with public utilities, including one of California's largest electricity providers, on wildfire litigation and contamination matters.

Outside of work, Duncan is a certified citizen scientist with FrogWatch USA and Hoosier Riverwatch and an Indiana certified naturalist.
