Brian McElroy is an associate in Barnes & Thornburg’s Restructuring and Bankruptcy Department. He advises debtors, secured creditors, and other stakeholders through complex insolvency matters in federal bankruptcy proceedings, state court receiverships, and out-of-court workouts.

Prior to joining the firm, Brian served as a law clerk to the Honorable Philip Bentley in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. While at Georgetown University Law Center, he spent a summer at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, externed for the Honorable Elizabeth Gunn of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia, and represented Georgetown at the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition.

Before law school, Brian enjoyed a career spanning international education, nonprofit leadership, and entrepreneurship while living in the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
