Barnes & Thornburg has added new corporate and litigation attorneys and legal professionals to its Columbus, Dallas and Grand Rapids offices.
As of counsel in the Columbus office, Michelle Nicholson primarily represents clients in government investigations, internal investigations and complex civil litigation matters. The focus of Nicholson’s work is guiding and assisting clients through investigations by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), or other government agencies. She also helps clients respond to third-party inquiries and government subpoenas and advises clients on compliance issues pursuant to plea agreements and government monitorships. She earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2013 and her B.A. in economics and history from Columbia University in 2010.
Anita Wenrick Peterson, a paralegal in the Grand Rapids office, aids attorneys and clients in the process of securing favorable agreement negotiations and renegotiations. She assists with the formation of legal entities, closings, and general business matters, specifically in the aviation sector, and she leverages her knowledge of case management, document filing, and research and drafting when litigation arises. She earned her B.A. in social and behavioral sciences from Pennsylvania State University.
Theresa Youngblood, of counsel in the Dallas office, has significant international trade compliance and regulatory law experience and advises domestic and international entities in the public and private sectors on building successful strategies and on dispute resolution. Youngblood has extensive experience in providing tailored counsel for matters involving export control and compliance, particularly with regard to the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Customs and Border Protection regulations, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions regulations. She earned her J.D. from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 1993 and her B.A. in political science from Northwestern University in 1986.
