LOS ANGELES – California’s leading legal publication The Daily Journal has named Barnes & Thornburg partner Scott J. Witlin as a “Top Labor and Employment Lawyer” in its annual list. The July 15 edition recognizes California’s top attorneys who have made significant contributions in labor and employment law.
Over a 35-year legal career, Witlin has a depth and breadth of experience demonstrated by significant and high-profile matters. These include representation of clients in landmark education law and federal labor law cases, class actions, and industry-wide union negotiations with SAG-AFTRA regarding video game performers.
A partner in the firm’s Los Angeles office, Witlin co-chairs the Barnes & Thornburg Wage & Hour practice group, and heads up the California employment law practice. He counsels employers on a wide range of labor and employment issues involving high-impact union-management litigation, collective bargaining negotiations, and class action wage and hour litigations.
A frequent commentator on labor and employment issues, Witlin is admitted to practice in state courts of California, before the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Eastern, Northern and Southern Districts of California, and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and D.C. Circuits.
This is the third time Witlin has received The Daily Journal honor. His most recent honor adds to the other accolades he has received for his legal work, including being named to Variety’s 2020 Legal Impact Report and repeated inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, Southern California Super Lawyers and Chambers USA: A Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers.
With more than 700 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, New York, Ohio, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Texas and Washington, D.C.
