Barnes & Thornburg Welcomes New Attorneys

Barnes & Thornburg has added new intellectual property and litigation attorneys to its Chicago, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., offices. 

Mitchell Charchalis, an associate in the Los Angeles office, is an experienced litigator who focuses on defending Fortune 500 clients in a range of complex mass tort and product liability matters. Mitch has successfully represented international and domestic automotive, consumer products and medical device manufacturers and distributors in individual and class actions, including benzene exposure and other toxic tort litigation. He earned his J.D. from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2012 and his B.A. in computer science and mathematics from James Madison University in 2008.

An associate in the Washington, D.C., office, Audrey Gariepy-Bogui’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, involving business torts, contract and employment disputes, government investigations, and product liability. She handles virtually all aspects of pre-trial practice, including drafting pleadings and discovery requests, taking party and fact witness depositions, and overseeing corporate document collection. As a native French speaker, Audrey is also very comfortable working with international clients. She earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School in 2014 and her B.A. in political science from Villanova University in 2011.

Zachary Miller, an associate in the Indianapolis office, is a skilled researcher and considers no subject to be too challenging when formulating a litigation strategy. He drafts critical motions and appeals for complex civil and criminal matters. Just before joining the firm full-time, Zach spent a year serving as a clerk to the Honorable Michael Kanne in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, where he was instrumental in preparing opinions and bench memos for quite an array of civil and criminal cases. He earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2019 and his B.A. in political science from Western Kentucky University in 2016.

Shigenobu Namiki, a business transaction advisor in the Chicago office, is a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo and works with the firm’s intellectual property clients and attorneys to expand business development efforts and facilitate relationships with existing and potential clients doing business in the U.S. and overseas. Shigenobu consults with attorneys in the areas of IP, litigation and privacy law, providing focused insight and support and helping advise clients in protecting their existing and emerging IP. He earned his LLM from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, attended The University of Tokyo School of Law, and earned both his Bachelor and Master of Agrochemistry degrees from The University of Tokyo.

An associate in the Indianapolis office, Lauren V. Nottoli works with clients on determining the best legal path forward when a dispute arises, whether through mediation, another alternative resolution or litigation. Lauren drafts motions, complaints and answers, and conducts research on a range of commercial litigation, higher education and sorority and fraternity related issues. Before coming back to private practice, Lauren clerked for the Honorable Elizabeth F. Tavitas of the Indiana Court of Appeals, where she assisted in drafting judicial opinions and memoranda spanning vast civil and criminal doctrinal areas. She earned her J.D. from Notre Dame Law School in 2017 and her B.A. from University of South Carolina in 2013.

Erin C. Steele, an associate in the Washington, D.C., office, focuses her practice in the areas of commercial litigation, white collar, and government investigations. Erin advises and represents clients in complex matters and disputes involving compliance with government regulations, including performing legal research and drafting memoranda. She also reviews and analyzes documents and issues regarding potential liability in connection to civil litigation, government agency audits and class actions. She earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2018 and her B.A. from University of Michigan in 2013.
