CHICAGO – Partners in Barnes & Thornburg LLP’s Chicago office have elected Michael A. Carrillo as managing partner of the office. He follows long-time Chicago managing partner Mark E. Rust, who stepped down in November after running the office for 18 years. Rust will continue on the firm’s Management Committee as vice chairman.
Carrillo, a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Department, has been at Barnes & Thornburg for nine years. He serves as legal counsel for IP and corporate law matters for companies throughout the United States.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to build on what Mark and others have done to expand our Chicago office into what it is today,” Carrillo said. “I appreciate the support from so many of my colleagues and look forward to continuing the growth of our office for the benefit of our clients.”
Barnes & Thornburg opened its office in Chicago 25 years ago; it is the law firm’s second-largest office and has grown to more than 110 attorneys who work with Fortune 500 companies, and mid-sized public and privately owned businesses.
