MINNEAPOLIS – Barnes & Thornburg has added Patrick Gallagher as a partner in the Intellectual Property Department in Minneapolis. Gallagher joins the firm’s expanded IP practice after the December hiring of 10 lawyers in the firm’s Life Sciences practice.

Gallagher joins Barnes & Thornburg with a wide array of experience in trademark and copyright issues, including trademark clearance, investigation, prosecution, client counseling, and management of client’s domestic and international trademark portfolios. Having worked with clients of all sizes in numerous industries, Gallagher has successfully advised on brand and product launches, as well as acquisitions and divestures, worth hundreds of millions of dollars and has experience with sophisticated IP and false advertising disputes and litigation; internet domain name disputes and proceedings; disputes involving social media, trademark due diligence and licensing; copyright counseling, registration, protection and litigation; and Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notice and takedown procedures.

Gallagher earned his J.D., cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law and his B.A. from Hamline University.
