Indiana Enacts Liability Shield for COVID-19 Related Lawsuits Against Businesses

On Feb. 18, 2021, Indiana joined a growing list of states providing protection for businesses, schools, health care providers, governments, and other entities from lawsuits alleging they are responsible for spreading the COVID-19 virus. In addition to the “liability shield” for these entities, the new law provides similar protection for makers and suppliers of medicines, protective equipment, supplies, and tests in instances where someone alleges they relied on such products and still contracted the virus.
