Sarah is one of the few associates in the firm who is involved not only in IP counseling and patent prosecution, but also in the resolution of IP litigation claims.
Sarah helps clients understand the ways they can best safeguard their patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights. She also drafts patent applications and works with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and international patent offices to prosecute such applications through approval.
In the area of IP litigation, Sarah has experience in a wide range of matters, including copyright ownership disputes, defense of patent infringement claims, and enforcement of the Defend Trade Secrets Act. She has advised clients regarding the protection of issued patent rights and validity contentions under the America Invents Act.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg full-time, Sarah served as a summer associate and a law clerk in the firm's Indianapolis office. She also gained legal experience as a legal extern for Hill-Rom, Inc., Dow AgroSciences LLC, and the Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation.
While at Princeton University, Sarah was a member of the varsity softball team, a member and social chair of the women’s rugby football club, and employed by both the Princeton University Athletic Department and Princeton in Asia.
