Tom Shea represents clients in medical device and product liability litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country. Tom has served as litigation counsel for multiple medical device companies.
Tom has represented clients in medical device liability cases pertaining to design and manufacturing, product use, regulation and warnings. His experience includes litigating claims involving surgical instruments; spine, shoulder, knee and hip products; and diabetes care products, including infusion pumps.
Tom defends claims that range from single plaintiff claims and cases to multi-district litigation involving thousands of plaintiffs. He is skilled in case analysis, strategy and execution. Notably, Tom previously served as chair of the firm's Drug and Medical Device Litigation practice group.
He has spoken at seminars on federal procedure and substantive law, federal preemption, litigation holds, privilege and Indiana's version of the Uniform Commercial Code. He served as Barnes & Thornburg's Deputy General Counsel in 2008 and 2009.
