Cathy assists the firm’s nationwide attorneys in employment litigation defense, noncompete and trade secret enforcement, and general litigation. She is skilled in drafting pleadings, discovery, interviewing witnesses, maintaining document inventories, preparing case chronologies, summarizing medical records and preparing deposition transcripts and hearing transcripts, along with proposition research, locating and working with experts, and trial preparation.
Moreover, Cathy is experienced in managing large electronic discovery initiatives, including participating in massive document and e-discovery review projects. She has also supported attorneys involved in state and federal appeals.
In addition to dispute resolution support, Cathy works with the firm’s attorneys on traditional labor law matters. This includes evaluating and ranking arbitrator panels, researching arbitration cases, conducting research and document preparation for union avoidance campaigns, investigation of agency level discrimination charges and drafting position statements. Cathy is also experienced in conducting I-9 audits for clients.
Cathy is well-versed in many other types of complex litigation. Cathy currently serves on a national litigation team that represents a manufacturer in the construction industry nationally in product liability cases. Notably, she served on a national litigation team that represented a major manufacturer nationally in wrongful death, breach of warranty and injury suits involving its product.
Cathy also served on the litigation team for a government entity in a $1.4 billion contract dispute, and has worked on insurance matters and several class actions.

In addition to her resolute work ethic, Cathy continuously seeks to build strong relationships of trust with everyone around her.
Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Cathy worked at VASA Insurance Group from 1985 to 1998, where she assisted with litigation, and dealt with employee benefits, employment law issues and insurance department complaints. She also served as the company's risk manager.
