Karen Borgstadt has a well-rounded, nearly 30-year background as a litigation paralegal. She is detail-oriented and highly skilled in prioritizing a heavy workload. Karen is task- and team-oriented in her work, and focused on increasing efficiencies to best analyze problems and generate solutions.
Karen assists with virtually all aspects of case preparation in commercial litigation matters from inception through discovery to court proceedings, including the appeals process. Her objective is to get what her attorneys and clients need, when they need it.
Through her work, Karen assists attorneys with a wide variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including class actions, antitrust and unfair competition proceedings, insurance policyholder disputes, civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) violations, and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). She also has experience with patent infringement, labor and employment litigation, construction and design disputes, and arbitrations.
She reviews and analyzes documents for both responsiveness and privilege. She also summarizes, compiles and organizes materials and exhibits for depositions, hearings, trials and arbitrations.
Before joining Barnes & Thornburg, Karen spent 22 years – a majority of her paralegal career – with Locke Lord LLP (formerly Lord Bissell & Brook, LLP).
Outside of her professional endeavors, Karen is a proponent of canine adoptions and always has one by her side.
